  1. I've gotta say, Abraham sure seems more mature and closely aligned with God the older he gets. There's hope 🤣

    1. agreed, brother. A thing only ends once, and everything along the way is just the journey. Here's hoping that, like Abraham's example, guys like you and me can continue to walk more closely with him and become more like him with each passing day

  2. I used to always imagine that Abraham went on a hike with his little boy into untouched mountain country until "he just knew" they were at the right place. And yet, it's far more likely that he had a good view of the city of Salem/Jerusalem as they approached, since Mt. Moriah is supposed to be right there in the neighborhood. And Abraham had already had dealings with the Righteous King of the City of Peace back in Chapter 14, a guy who just happened to be a priest of the LORD God, who might know a thing or two about sacrifices. And Isaac was no boy at this point.

    1. ...also, I noticed here that Abraham and Isaac were quite familiar with sacrifices, burnt offerings, and rams, quite awhile before there was a Hebrew nation. (actually, this stuff was practiced by Noah, too, and went all the way back in Genesis 4) Sacrifices, offerings, etc., - they're not a Jewish thing; they're a "God's followers" thing.

  3. Do you fellas ever approach God in prayer, not even knowing how to get your head and heart around the situation you're supposed to be praying about? And then an idea or a direction in prayer just kind of "comes to you"? I think that's what happened with Eli`ezer as he was there by the well in Nachor's city. Reading stories like this reminds me that God is not only interested in the movers and shakers and kingdom builders, but also in the "other guys", like Eliezer and me. (and you, too, wherever you fit in on that spectrum 🙃)

  4. I'm thinking that movers, shakers, and kingdom builders (who are glorifying God) are other guys like you.

    1. good point, buddy. I know that many times we tend to think there are things we can't do, people we can be, opportunities that we won't have. And yet the Maker of Haven and Earth, the God of the Bible, the Most High himself is still concerned with all of us, with every man, not just the men that others think are "the important ones".

  5. Sorry that I'm kind of late to the party. I just wanted to say that I know exactly what that feeling is like. It's encouraging to know that it's literally like talking to your parent. ( I know, easy for me to say. Especially since I still live with my parents.) Sometimes, parents seem to always know what their kid is going to ask for. So to kind of help them out, they direct them towards the question they are trying to ask.(Sometimes even before the kid knows what they want.)I am glad that we have a Father who looks at "The other guys'' as his children.

    1. nice thought! Yeah, I think that the Lord was probably helping Eli`ezer find focus (and words) in his prayer, so that things would go the way that he wanted them to turn out.
