  1. Jacob had rough spots along the way but he seems to finish strong. It gives me hope for myself, and all the time and energy I have wasted over the years moving in the wrong direction or no direction. I love how he said (48:11) he hadn’t even thought to see Joseph, but God no only did that (after 20+) years of thinking he was dead, but he showed Jacob his grandchildren. I great reminder that even when God seems silent He is working the plan that has existed since before time began. Jacob also never forgot who was in charge, who was providing even though outwardly Joseph saved them from the famine, God was driving all that. The list of blessings also makes me reflect on my kids. They are each different, they each have good and bad, their futures will all be what God wants them to be but each kid is shaped by their upbringing, the events of their lives, the mistakes and successes, my mistakes and successes. All we can do is pour as much Jesus into them as possible with each day we have and hope for the best.

    1. that is a great perspective. We're all broken in some way or another, and because of our...humanness...our kids won't get the best start in this world. But, along the lines of what you were saying, the important part is how we finish. And, as we've seen quite a few times already, the LORD can turn things around in a hurry, and even make the "bad" guys turn out to be "good" guys by the end of their story. Or course, the difference is how big a part He plays in each individual story.
