  1. Fun fact: it's likely that the twins were in their 70s when the "stolen blessing" story took place. Speaking of that, Jacob (I think) did have to answer for how he dealt with his brother and father, but did he actually derail what the Lord wanted to accomplish with their family?
...another interesting question: in 27:42, who told Rebekah what Esau's intentions were?

    1. ...I don't know. But it's a great reminder (for me especially) that we should be carefull about what we say. -Christopher

  2. ...at Beit-El (Bethel), Jacob didn't seem to regard the Most High as "his" God, and seemed to be striking a deal that would, ahem, be mutually beneficial to both parties, lol. Is Jacob a smooth talking deal maker?

  3. we know which wife was Jacob's favorite, but I"m not so sure he picked the best one. One could make a case that the Lord chose Leah, if it came down to one or the other.

  4. So I just had a thought... My whole life I've always thought that Rebekah's favorite child was Jacob. I've thought this because she wanted him to have the blessing instead of Esau. But, while this may be true, I think it's possible that it could also be because she wanted the Lord's plan to come about.('' The older shall serve the younger.'') When she saw that Esau was about to be blessed, she rushed to get her son blessed. Whether or not this was her motive, it's clear that she did not talk to God about any of it. I think this is a great reminder for us to pray about, really everything. -Christopher

    1. "...pray about, really everything..." That's a good plan, for sure. sometimes we may get what we're asking him for; sometimes, we may get to understand him and see the clear path to walk in his ways. Not sure if Rebekah prayed, and not sure how (if she prayed) that praying affected what happened next. I do know that what the LORD told her during the pregnancy came true, and this was part of that journey. Jacob and Esau still had to answer for their character and their actions, though - just like we all do.
