  1. I wonder if there's a connection between the global famine of Genesis 41, Pharaoh's land grant to Israel's people in chapter 47, and the explosive growth of the people in Exodus 1. 🤔
The Lord shifted the wealth and food of the world into an established kingdom, made it *the* global superpower through the work of his man running the government, and then brought his people there to flourish. The Hebrews didn't have any growing pains as they went from family size to people group to nation-within-a-nation. They didn't have to worry about developing infrastructure or a defense or foreign policy strategy. They got to thrive in relative peace and anonymity among a people who didn't want to mess with them or their work.

    1. ...and it was great until it wasn't. When it got bad, it got *really* bad. They begged and begged and begged the LORD to get them out of this place. 🤔🤔🤔...

  2. In the midst of the slavery and persecution of God's people, a baby was born who would become their deliverer, and this baby was miraculously saved from the king who would kill all the baby boys to secure his power over the kingdom

  3. Exodus 3:18-22 - I think one of the reasons why the LORD told Moses how things would go is to build Moses' trust. As these events played out, Moses probably thought something along the lines of "this is going *exactly* like he said it would"...making it easier to trust Him and to be faithful to follow his instructions.

    1. I see that too as a way to increase trust. Moses had a ton of excuses(as we sometimes do as well) that he isn't qualified to do what God told him. God shows great patience through this convo. I'm just imagining having a talk with one of my kids and all the excuses would make me super frustrated and probably angry, so I see my need for patience when excuses/difficulties come. God continues to be patient with me for sure.

    2. thanks be to God for his patience with us 🙂
My guess is that as we become more and more men "of the Word" (especially becoming *doers*) that our trust in the God of the Bible will grow, and because of that it will become easier for our faithfulness to Him to grow as well.
